ABOUT US

Conil Nature is more than just a project, it is our commitment to the protection and celebration of the biodiversity of the region

Company history Conil Nature was born from a passion for biodiversity and the desire to share the natural wildlife and beauty of Conil de la Frontera and its surroundings with the world. Inspired by the unique landscapes of the Costa de la Luz and a love for birds, we decided to create a company dedicated to sustainable nature tourism. Although our adventure is just beginning, our team consists of expert local guides committed to nature conservation and the promotion of respectful tourism.

Ornella Antonelli

Ornella Antonelli began her professional career in Italy, specializing in the study of infectious diseases of animals after earning a degree in Animal Sciences from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Naples. She later completed additional studies that granted her professional certification from the University of Perugia to practice as an Agronomist and Forester, with a specialization in Zoology.

A trip to the Scottish Highlands sparked her fascination with the region’s natural beauty and wildlife, leading her to settle there for over a decade. During this period, she further enhanced her academic qualifications by obtaining a Master’s degree in Wildlife Biology and Conservation from the University of Edinburgh, where she presented a thesis focused on bird populations in urban parks.

Whilst in Scotland, she participated in various research projects with the Scottish Wildlife Trust; however, it was with the organization Scottish Badgers that she solidified her interest and dedication to the study and conservation of the European badger, with a particular focus on protecting this species from wildlife crime.

She currently resides in Andalusia, where she combines her passion for birdwatching with participation in various conservation projects. She is currently the volunteer coordinator for the “Save the Kentish Plover” project in the Conil de la Frontera area.

Her scientific and cultural background is also reflected in her personal interests, including nature photography, photomicrography, and hiking.
